The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a government scheme that supports households in installing rooftop solar panels at a much lower cost. The scheme provides up to 60% subsidy for systems up to 2 kW and 40% subsidy for systems up to 3 kW, helping families save as much as Rs 15,000 per year on electricity bills. It also allows users to earn benefits from any extra solar power supplied back to the grid. With this initiative, the government aims to increase renewable energy use across India. To be eligible, applicants must be Indian citizens, have a residential property with rooftop space, hold a valid electricity connection, and must not have received any solar subsidy before.
